An off-duty law enforcement officer was hurt Wednesday during a home-invasion robbery in Whittier, authorities said.

The attack happened about 3:20 p.m. in the 5400 block of Pioneer Boulevard in a condominium community, and the person or people suspected of carrying out the robbery and subsequent stabbing are at large.

A suspect description was not immediately available.

About a half block of Pioneer Boulevard south of Beverly Boulevard is closed during the investigation.

A watch commander at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Whittier Substation could not reveal which agency the injured officer works for or the officer’s condition.
