Woman Shot By Police After Allegedly Raising Gun at Them

Police shot and wounded a woman they say raised a handgun at them while they responded to a report of a break-in at a San Bernardino home Monday.

Officers were called at 1:44 p.m. about a female armed with a gun and trying to break into a residence, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.

Police tracked down the call to the 1100 block of 6th Street, where they saw a female in a driveway running from another female who was armed with a handgun.

Officers ordered the armed woman to drop the weapon. She instead raised the gun at officers, according to police. That's when officers opened fire and struck her several times.

The woman, who was not immediately identified, was taken to the hospital, where she was in stable condition, police said. She was expected to survive.

Police were interviewing several witnesses to the shooting.

No officers were injured.
