Police Search for Woman's Body, Arrest Husband on Suspicion of Murder

Police said they found "evidence of foul play" at the Newport Beach home of Peter and Quee Chadwick, who remains missing

While police continue to search for the body of a Newport Beach woman, her husband has been arrested on suspicion of killing her.

Newport Beach police announced Friday morning that they were looking for Quee "Q.C." Chadwick, 46, the alleged victim of her husband, Peter Chadwick, 48.

Police were called Wednesday evening to the couple's home on Almanzora, a cul-de-sac in the exclusive Newport Coast development, after a neighbor called authorities. The neighbor was concerned because the Chadwicks had not picked up their children from school.

At the home, officers found "evidence of a struggle and possible foul play," according to a press release from the Newport Beach Police Department. A search for the pair began.

Then, early Thursday morning, Peter Chadwick called San Diego police for assistance while he was driving on the 905 Freeway near the Mexico border.

With the help of San Diego police, Newport Beach detectives took Chadwick into custody in San Diego.

Police will not say why Chadwick needed help, Newport Beach police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe said. Nor would they give details about why he was a suspect in his wife's alleged killing.

"The investigation has revealed that Quee “Q.C.” Chadwick has been the victim of a homicide; however her body has not yet been located," police said in their Friday morning statement.

Police were searching the area that Chadwick was thought to have been in during the 12 hours before he contacted San Diego police at 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

He was driving a champagne-colored 2003 Lexus with a license plate 5CFT352, police said. Anyone who saw him or his car, or anyone with additional information, is asked to call (800) 550-NBPD or Detective Bryan Moore at (949) 644-3764.

Chadwick was being held on $1.5 million bail in the Newport Beach jail, Lowe said.
