Men Plead Not Guilty to Stealing $1 Million in Cash During Home Invasion

Prosecutors and police allege the men knocked on the front door claiming to be making a mail delivery and forced their way inside at gunpoint when a housekeeper answered the door

One of two felons charged with stealing more than $1 million in cash during a Southern California home invasion robbery pleaded not guilty Monday to felony charges.

Siavash Razaghi, 30, of Oak Park, is charged with one count each of home invasion robbery, first-degree residential burglary, identity theft and second-degree commercial robbery.

Co-defendant Travis Kennedy, 30, of Newhall, pleaded not guilty on Friday to one felony count each of home invasion robbery, first-degree residential burglary, identity theft, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance and possession for sale of methamphetamine.

Prosecutors and police allege the men knocked on the front door of a Burbank home on Nov. 1 claiming to be making a mail delivery and forced their way inside at gunpoint when a housekeeper answered the door.

The suspects, one of them wearing a ski mask, tied up the housekeeper and put her in a bathroom while they robbed the house on Paseo Redondo, making off with $1 million, according to police and prosecutors.

Police first said half a million dollars in cash was stolen from the home.

The District Attorney's Office had no comment on why the homeowner might have $1 million in cash on hand, but NBC4 learned in February the homeowners may own a money lending business.

Prosecutors said Razaghi was convicted of identity theft last year and Kennedy was convicted in 2012 of receiving stolen property and selling, offering to sell or transporting marijuana.

Both men are due back in court April 2, when a date is expected to be set for a hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence to proceed to trial.

Kennedy, jailed since his arrest on $275,000 bail, faces up to 24 years and four months in prison if convicted. The maximum sentence for Razaghi, who's being held on $2 million bail, would be nearly 23 years.
