Man Shot in Head in South LA Attack

A 24-year-old man was killed Monday after a drive-by shooting in South Los Angeles while he was possibly repairing a car, police said.

The shooting occurred near West Adams Boulevard and Normandie Avenue just before 7 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Graciela Mendez was at a laundrymat nearby when she heard gunshots. She said she ran inside the laundrymat for safety until police arrived, she said.

"You can be walking and you don't know where the shots are going to come from," Mendez said.

Mendez said she later learned the victim was a young man she has seen around the neighborhood.

Detectives said they were looking into whether the fatal shooting was connected to another shooting that happened earlier at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park where two people were shot.

Police said the shooting on West Adams Boulevard was possibly gang-related.
