7/29: The Fray, Sunset Boulevard, Script Chat

THE FRAY: The ditty-penning Denverites -- are you called Denverites, Denver denizens? We believe so -- take the big stage at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre to rock hits like "Over My Head (Cable Car)." Also piano-pretty is the much-associated-with-"Grey's-Anatomy"-rock-ballad "How to Save a Life." Jack's Mannequin joins. 7PM

"SUNSET BOULEVARD": Do we have to go around saying "pick-chazzz" a la Norma Desmond whenever we see this blissfully satirical, gleefully grim cautionary tale of Hollywood? We do. And whether you say pick-chazzz or merely pictures, we're betting you'll love seeing this Billy Wilder-directed classic on the big screen. ArcLight Hollywood, 8PM

SPEAKING OF HOLLYWOOD WRITERS... We refer to the fictional Joe Gillis of "Sunset Boulevard"; would Mr. Gillis have liked to have attended a writers' panel on comedy? Perhaps. Probably he'd like to have been on it. The WGA's Writers on Genre Series enjoys its final night with a look at laugh-seeking scribes. The guys behind "The Hangover" and the ladies behind "Legally Blonde" will be there. WGA (sold-out, but wait list available.)
