Cheech Marin's Art and Favorite Places

We've been wanting to slip over and take in the Cheech Marin art exhibit at Los Angeles County Museum before the show closes on November 2. The roster of artists represented in "Los Angeles/Chicano Painters of LA: Selections from the Cheech Marin collection" include such notable talents as Gilbert Lujan and Carlos Almaraz, and the man behind the collection has spoken passionately and often about why he collects and what role the paintings hold in his life.

So imagine our delight to see a list of Mr. Marin's favorite go-outs around SoCal promoted in the Times today. Some Malibu restaurants are present and accounted for, as well as tasty taquito emporium Cielito Lindo on Olvera Street. He also lists Fogo de Chao as one of his special spots, and we got to thinking that perhaps we'll go see the LACMA exhibit and then swing by the Beverly Hills meat-a-tarium for a delicious post-ogling-the-art dinner. We'll call it a day in honor of a gifted actor, art collector and all-around swell guy. That Brazilian churrascaria will be a part of it will be the scrumptious capper.
