Christmas Already?

We were in the party store tonight looking for some Uncle Sam hats. Or tiny flags. Or red, white and blue confetti. Many other smarter Angelenos had a similar idea, only earlier than us, so we left empty-handed, sad in the thought that our table shall remain undecorated for the election tomorrow. Must have cute ideas faster, we vowed.

We also noted that Halloween was getting cleared out lickety-split from the party store shelves. Ghosties be gone. Ghouls, get outta here. Why all the sudden shelf space for something that was, only a matter of hours ago, so very in demand? The yuletide-iest time of the year, of course.

After we gathered our wits and realized that Christmas will indeed by arriving a bit more every day until we're in a veritable onslaught of candy cane-flavored merriment, we read that Mike at Franklin Avenue spied the DWP light display already going up at Griffith Park. Now we know for certain Noel is not far off. Once The Grove trucks its towering fir in, we can officially call the start of the season.
