The words "new tradition" sometimes make us smile, but we are helpless before their oxymoronic sway.
After all, when something good is just starting up, you want that something good to stay around. Hence, the invoking of the words "new" and "tradition." We're invoking them now, in the hope that the City of Angels Wine Fest becomes a Memorial Day Weekend staple for years to come.
The 2010 City of Angels Wine Fest is on Monday, May 31 from noon to 5 p.m. The setting is the Music Center Plaza.
Principally, City of Angels is a fundraiser, with fellowship, community, and lending a hand in mind. The Rotary Club of Los Angeles hosts, and the Volunteers of America's homeless programs are the day's beneficiaries.
It is also a foodie festival, and a fine way to get to know the offerings of our city's restaurants and our state's wineries. Tickets are $65 each, and you'll be able to taste tidbits from several of the Patina restaurants.
Also nice: A designated driver ticket is $5, but note that this particular ticket does not include food. However, you can purchase food tickets.
