Hollywood: Unfortunately, Essex didn't open on June 23 as planned, however co-owners Greg Link and Hunter H. Hensley are preparing the space for a post-July 4 weekend debut. Interiors are currently 99% in place and beer taps from Shock Top to Stone were recently installed. The restaurant appears to show an abundance of deep-brown wood and exposed brick, with a long wooden bar along the left wall, and an opposing banquette plus dining tables. A secondary dining area boasts brick from floor to wall, in addition to a secondary light-colored wood L-shaped banquette. As previously mentioned, Chef Chris Ennis will manage the kitchen and serve gastropub fare with Christina Perozzi's selection of 20 beers on tap, plus 20 in bottle. [EaterWire]
