There's something so small-town-meets-Hollywood-lights about the Ventura and Laurel Canyon Boulevard nexus. Laurel Tavern, the comfy-but-upscale bar that just opened a toot down from that intersection, gives a hearty nod to both of those qualities. Its sophisticated side should draw showrunners from nearby CBS Studio Center, while runners -- as in, joggers -- could easily end an evening trek here (and not be at all fretful they're wearing sweats).
Eater LA says this is the very spot where Sapphire sparkled a few years back. It's a grand location, and the 16 brews on tap will definitely be a draw. The warm vibe, burgers on the menu, and downright pub-y look seem just right for a nabe that never puts on airs. Well, occasionally it does, once in a while, but then who among us doesn't?
