Some people study the tabs daily -- hourly, even -- to see what celebrity has which hot young thing on his/her arm. Us? We like the red carpets where famous people kiss their dogs. Puckering-up movie star + ball of fur = us digging around for change to make an impulse magazine purchase. The Lint Roller Party, an annual music/food/auctions/Fido to-do that helps out the Best Friends Animal Society, is a prime place to see starlets smooching their favorite little wuvvy-dove muttkins, and to help out hounds, too.
Some of the programs that receive help include spay/neuter efforts as well as adoption fairs. It's a splashy event, for sure, but the winning combo of cute creatures, cute celebrities, a cool concert, an open bar and gourmet nibbles galore makes our tail thump the floor, appreciatively.
Really, check out the night's events: Emmylou Harris -- let us say that again: Emmylou Harris -- is performing. Animals in need are prone to making us go a bit misty around the eye area, but hearing Ms. Harris croon, well, anything, might send our emotions right through the Palladium's historic roof. Chefs from Wolfgang Puck's edible empire are serving a buffet (vegetarian, natch), while the evening's auctions include wearable things as well walk-on parts (one of the choice, only-in-LA perks). There are also goodie bags to keep for your very ownself. Meow meow, indeed.
