November Nyuk Nyuks

Comedy. Beer. More comedy.

What flavor do you like your funny? The Los Angeles Comedy Festival is a veritable ice cream counter of tastes.

The comics and troupes are the frosty, delicious scoops, and the jokes are the toppings, and the punchlines are the rainbow-hued sprinkles, and... Well, we just want to grab a plastic spoon and dig in. Oh, and the theater where people are performing would be the little paper cup. Right? We think. Hmmm...

But the real question is what to sample first. A starry roster of top-notch stand-ups, from LA and beyond, are part of this big, over-sized laugh spectacular that runs annually around the middle of November.

But the fest isn't just about single-person stand-up; there are films galore and sketch-focused groups on hand to unleash the merry mayhem en masse. OPM's FISTS OF FUNNY and Last Ferry to Hobart particularly intrigue, but there are a few dozen shows to choose from. The Los Angeles Comedy Festival runs through Sunday, November 22 at the ACME Comedy Theatre.

Also nyuking through November 22nd: The San Pedro BrewHaHa. You can probably tell from the name that this is a fest bent on rounding up a lot of nice things, including fresh joke-making people, beer, and the wonderful Warner Grand Theatre. Get the details on the foams and funny.
