StyleSectionLA Adds Depth to LA's Online Fashion World

From the ashes of the recent LA Times and Condé Nast layoffs rises a new media entity — StyleSectionLA, an online destination that's striving to celebrate the lesser-known members of our city's style tribes. Its launch team is made up of two former LAT Image section writers, Emili Vesilind and Erin Weinger, and ex-DNR staffer Andrew Harmon (a men's trade title that was folded into WWD earlier this year).

A quick scan through the site makes it clear that its founders come from print backgrounds, with lengthy feature stories and stylized fashion shoots taking up much of the splash page. These include an 800-word interview with designer Kimberly Ovitz, an in-depth review of Hollywood's Falcon restaurant, and a shoot with up-and-coming actress Kay Panabaker wearing clothes by equally emerging LA designers. A companion blog and a promise to upload one new feature per day will hopefully keep the site fresh, and we must say, we're looking forward to seeing what comes next. After all, compared to New York, there isn't much in the way of localized online fashion media in LA — we're all for anyone who wants to add to the conversation.
