The Dish: Trader Vic's, Domenico, Simmzy's

The biggest opening of the week took place yesterday at Tavern, and the early returns from Night One are more than encouraging. But, lo and behold, there are a few more notable debuts around town; as always, kindly send in your sightings to the tipline.

1) LA Live: Tomorrow, Trader Vic's will finally return to Los Angeles in its full-restaurant form. The Daily Dish has a pretty extensive preview of the tiki institution, and the latest incarnation stays open until 2am on weekends, complete with live entertainment and everything. Opening night is fully booked, we're told. Going forward, there will be nightly specials along the lines of Mai Tai Mondays, Tiki Central Tuesdays and the like. 800 W. Olympic Blvd, (213) 785-3330; website [EaterWire]

2) Silver Lake: Opening tonight for dinner service at 5:30pm is plywood vet Domenico Ristorante. It's a classic, cozy Italian neighborhood joint from executive chef Michael Young and owner Domenico Frasca, who has worked at Chalet Gourmet, Porta Via, and Drago. 1637 Silver Lake Blvd, (323) 661-6166; website [EaterWire]

3) Manhattan Beach: The grand opening party for Simmzy's is technically tomorrow and though it's not open to the public, Simmzy's will be open to the public by Monday at the latest (if not today). The new endeavor from Chris and Mike Simms is in the corner space of Manhattan Beach Blvd and Highland, last inhabited by Ebisu, and the menu is upgraded pub grub food with your standard local and seasonal ingredients. There's even a "bruschetta bar." 229 Manhattan Beach Blvd; (310) 546-1201; website [EaterWire]
