What You're Doing This Weekend: May 29-31

AND THE GOLDEN POPCORN BUCKET THINGY GOES TO... The MTV Movie Awards, which make merry on Sunday, May 31 at Gibson Amphitheatre, are star-studded, hijinx-studded, Bruno-studded (Sacha Baron Cohen, likely in leather, is presenting). The big news: the "Twilight"-y trailer for "New Moon" debuts. Andy Samberg hosts.

DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL: David Lynch, Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse. The director-artist has taken pictures that are a "visual interpretation" of songs from the two musical acts. We like, and are already unsettled by, the dressy gal at the barbecue. Opens Saturday, May 30 at the Michael Kohn Gallery.

"SLEEPER" AT HOLLYWOOD FOREVER: Cinespia screens Woody Allen's sci-fi comedy on Saturday, May 30. We've always wanted that UFO of a house from the film. Even decades later it feels decades ahead of its time.

SANTA MONICA FINE ARTS FESTIVAL: Spring weekend, beachy breezes, the Third Street Promenade. Treat yourself to something mocha-creamy-ice-ish and stroll among arts and crafts booths galore. Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31

LAUGH IT UP: Patton Oswalt is at Largo at the Coronet on Saturday, May 30; Dane Cook brings his Global Thermo Tour to Staples on Saturday, May 30; and the LA Greek Film Festival Comedy Night is at the Improv on Sunday, May 31.
