Renderings of a planned new luxury addition to Disneyland’s handful of hotels were submitted to Anaheim officials Tuesday.
The planned hotel would be built on 10 acres at 1401 Disneyland Drive and its construction would coincide with the building of the new Star Wars land at the theme park. The hotel is slated to open in 2021.
It would be the first new hotel on the Disneyland ground in almost two decades.
"We are excited about our proposal to build the first Disneyland Resort hotel in nearly 20 years," Disney spokeswoman Suzi Brown said in a written statement.
"This new flagship hotel would create thousands of jobs and benefit Anaheim with more than $750 million in additional tax revenue over the next four decades, while helping the city reach its stated goal of attracting more high-end visitors."
The current plans include 700 hotel rooms, a rooftop restaurant, kids play area, pools and other amenities.
