A 12-year-old girl who was pulled from a Hollywood motel along with her mother and brother last week has died, police said Tuesday.
The girl and her 11-year-old brother were playing with two other children when they wandered into the deep end of the 7-feet-5-inch-deep pool, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Their mother, 36, tried to pull them out, but neither she nor the children can swim, fire officials said. There was no lifeguard on duty.
A good Samaritan walking past the motel heard screaming and climbed the fence. He and another bystander pulled them from the water.
All three family members were in cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived. Two younger siblings were in the shallow end of the pool and were unharmed.
The girl’s mother remains hospitalized in serious condition and the boy has been upgraded to stable.
