Woman, 89, Killed When Cadillac Crashes Off Freeway Overpass

An 89-year-old woman was killed when she crashed off a freeway overpass and onto the northbound lanes of the Harbor (110) Freeway.

The crash occurred at 3:58 a.m. just north of Third Street, said California Highway Patrol Officer Dion Conley. The vehicle went off the Third Street overpass and fell onto the northbound lanes, he said.

The vehicle struck cars when it landed and caused crashes, but information about other injuries was not immediately available.

Conley said he also did not immediately know how many people were inside the vehicle.

Northbound lanes, with the exception of one collector lane, were closed Thursday morning at Third Street, noted Officer Gomez of the California Highway Patrol. They were reopened before 9 a.m.

The northbound offramp at Third Street was expected to remain closed until around 11 a.m. while California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) crews repaired a guardrail, Gomez said.

Gomez added 110 lanes would be closed intermittently during the guardrail repair.
