Police Ask for Help Finding Downtown LA Hit-and-Run Driver

Police Wednesday released video of a weekend hit-and-run in downtown Los Angeles that left a 27-year-old man with fractured ribs and injuries to his knee and hands.

A driver in a dark four-door sedan traveling south on Grand Avenue struck the man in the crosswalk at Ninth Street around 11 p.m. last Saturday.

The victim was walking on a legal crosswalk at 9th and Grand Avenue when the Sedan ran a red light, swerved to avoid cars and hit him, throwing him 35 feet.

"He was calling out for me, 'Mom, mom, mom,'" Frances Buenrostro, the victim's mother, said of the phone call she received after her son, Daniel, had been hit.

Good samaritans shielded Daniel on the street, using their cellphones to divert other cars, before police arrived.

Police want auto body shops and insurance adjusters to be on the look out for a dark four-door sedan with damage on the front, hood and windshield.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for tips leading to the man's arrest.

Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact Central Traffic Division Detective Moses Castillo at 213-833-3713 or 30215@lapd.online.
