A man wanted for a number of armed sexual assaults in Los Angeles is on the lam, has led police on a high speed pursuit in Alabama, and is considered armed and dangerous by the FBI.
The agency has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest of former Santa Monica resident Greg Alyn Carlson.
The suspect, in his mid-40s, is originally from the Washington, D.C. area and has lived in Santa Monica, said Laura Eimiller of the FBI. Carlson has used aliases, including Greg A. Carlson and Greg Alym Carlson.
"He should be considered armed and extremely dangerous,'' Eimiller said.
Carlson is described as white, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds, and has brown hair and green eyes. He may be in possession of a stolen handgun, and may be driving a stolen white four-door 2017 Hyundai Accent rental car with South Carolina license plate NKI-770.
On Sept. 3, 2017, Carlson was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department on suspicion of burglary, assault with intent to commit rape, and assault with a deadly weapon, Eimiller said. He posted bond later that month and was released, according to Eimiller.
"After he posted bond, Carlson allegedly fled to a family home in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and at some point thereafter, fled with a stolen handgun, rental car, and a significant amount of cash,'' Eimiller said. "Carlson has indicated that he will not return to Los Angeles to face prosecution.''

"When police attempted to stop him, Carlson allegedly led them on an erratic, high-speed pursuit that was terminated by the police due to the danger to the public,'' Eimiller said.
Carlson has since been seen in Jacksonville, Florida, on Nov. 28, 2017, and in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Nov. 30, 2017.
An arrest warrant was issued for Carlson in Los Angeles County in September of 2017, and a federal arrest warrant was issued in the Central District of California in December of 2017, when he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts was asked by the FBI to contact the nearest FBI field office or their local law enforcement agency.
