Rally To Be Held For UCLA NCAA Softball Champions

A celebration rally for UCLA's NCAA softball championship will be held Sunday at its on-campus home field, Easton Stadium.

Gates will open at 12:30 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 1 p.m, with members of the team speaking about the Bruins play at the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City. An hour long autograph session with UCLA players on the field will follow the ceremony. Fans will have the opportunities to take pictures with the national championship trophy.

The event is free and open to the public.

The first 200 fans in attendance will receive a free UCLA softball national championship clear bag.

A parking pass in the UCLA pay-by-space lots near and around Easton Stadium is required.

The Bruins won their 13th softball national championship and first since 2010 with a 5-4 victory over top-seeded Oklahoma Tuesday to sweep the best-of-three WCWS Championship Series. Second-seeded UCLA won the first game, 16-3, Monday and was 5-0 in the Women's College World Series.

The Bruins were led by redshirt junior pitcher Rachel Garcia, who was selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the Women's College World Series after posting a 5-0 record with a 1.75 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 36 innings.

Garcia was selected as the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. She was 29-1 with a 1.14 ERA and four saves in 2019, with 19 complete games and seven shutouts in 25 starts.
