LAPD: Rapist Left Key Evidence Behind

LA Police investigators say the man who kidnapped, then raped, a teenager Wednesday morning in Redondo Beach left some key evidence behind. Pieces of clothing, for one, which he’d covered the victim with while driving her from Peck Park in San Pedro. That’s where he had earlier forced the girl into his car at gunpoint while she walked to school.

The man assaulted the sixteen-year-old in an “unlocked, unoccupied garage” at an apartment complex off Catalina Ave.

Afterward, police say he drove off, leaving her duct-taped and blindfolded. She managed to get free and stumbled into an alley, where neighbors called 911.

“I’d say this person is extremely dangerous,” said Detective Gregory Stone with the LAPD’s Special Assault Section.

Stone said the man might also have left fingerprints. Crime scene investigators dusted the garage door from top to bottom this afternoon. They’re also looking through surveillance tapes from a house located across the street from the alley, in the hope that the suspect’s dark, four-door sedan may have been spotted leaving the scene.

Cameras captured the girl being escorted away by officers. She will be medically examined, then offered counseling after her two-hour ordeal.
