Three Dead, One Wounded in Harbor Gateway Area Shooting

Three bodies were found at a home, a fourth victim who suffered a leg wound was located a few blocks away

Three men were found dead in an apartment complex after officers responded to a "shots fired" call Friday morning in the Harbor Gateway area that prompted police escorts to nearby schools and a search that covered several blocks.

The Los Angeles Police Department received the call at about 5:30 a.m. Aerial video showed ambulances and fire-rescue vehicles near 205th Street and Western Avenue (map).

Officers arrived at a residence on 205th Street to find three deceased victims. The victims were identified as men in the 30s and 20s.

The three victims were found inside the apartment complex, said Capt. Nancy Lauer, of the LAPD's Harbor Division.

"It appears they were inside when a dispute occurred with shots being fired," Lauer said.

A fourth man who suffered a minor wound to the leg was located a few blocks from that residence. He was hospitalized in serious condition, Lauer said.

LAPD Sgt. Rudy Lopez said the fourth man is "being detained for his involvement" in the shooting. Lopez did not identify the man as a suspect.

"We don't know who was a suspect and who was a victim at this point," Lopez said.

There are no reports of an arrest, but Lauer said there was "no additional danger to community members."

Officers were escorting students to nearby schools. A section of 205th Street remained blocked for the investigation.

"Things have been quiet around this area for quite some time," said resident Brad Wood. "To have this happen is just deflating."
