Former Death Row Records head Marion "Suge" Knight was one of three people wounded during an early morning shooting at a West Hollywood nightclub, Los Angeles County Sheriffs Officials confirmed to NBC News.
The shooting was reported at 1:40 a.m. Sunday during what was billed in media reports as a pre-VMA party hosted by singer Chris Brown at the club located in the 9000 block of Sunset Boulevard.
People who said they were inside the club heard up to five gunshots.
Investigators said Knight was shot just minutes after arriving. He was able to walk out on his own.
Sources told the NBC4 I-Team that Knight was shot several times in the abdominal area. He was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Officials described the injuries to Knight as "non-life-threatening" and said he is recovering after undergoing surgery.
A man and a woman also were wounded but they were not mediately identified.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation but authorities were not getting much cooperation from witnesses, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's official said.
It was not clear if investigators have any strong leads.
There were no arrests.
