Would-Be Burglars Robbed

Two would-be burglars who attempted to break  into a Venice home had the tables turned on them Sunday.

The break-in the 800 block of Vernon Avenue occurred about 2:30 a.m., but the would-be burglars were confronted by two burly men police identified as friends of the homeowner, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Joel Sydanma of the Pacific Station.

The two manhandled the robbers and took their identification before they were eventually arrested.

"They basically robbed the robbers, took their IDs,'' Sydanma said.

Police were alerted to the crime about 2:40 a.m., after the two suspect ran from the home, another officer at the station said.

Police sealed off the area, and the two were caught less than an hour later, she said.

Their names were unavailable pending booking.
