A 30-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in her Boyle Heights home early Friday by a man who forced his way through her living room window armed with a machete, police said.
The attack occurred about 12:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The woman was asleep in her bedroom when the man broke in, police said.
"The suspect removed most of his clothing with the exception of his underwear and then entered the victim's bedroom," according to a police statement. "The victim woke up when she heard a noise in her room and she observed the suspect standing at the foot of her bed."
The man then sexually assaulted the woman, dressed and left the residence, according to the LAPD.
He is described as Hispanic, around 35 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall, about 150 pounds with brown wavy hair, brown or hazel eyes and a noticeable scar on his upper lip.
He wore a gray hoodie with blue side panels, blue jeans, black tennis shoes and a brown baseball cap.
