Suspect Seriously Injured After Jumping From SUV Being Followed by Police

The street was littered with bags of what appear to be marijuana

A burglary suspect was seriously injured Tuesday when he jumped from a vehicle being followed by police in the Hollywood Hills.

Officers responded just after 5 p.m. to a report of a possible burglary suspect in the 3000 block of Valevista Trail and began following a vehicle seen leaving the area, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im.

The man in the passenger seat bailed out of the vehicle in the 6900 block of Camrose Avenue in the Hollywood Hills, Im said.

He was not conscious or breathing when officers reached him.

Firefighters were called to the scene and took at least one person to a hospital, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The man is now in stable condition.

The suspect vehicle was eventually stopped by police near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue in Hollywood, where the driver was detained, Im said.

Suspected narcotics were found in the vehicle and near where the passenger jumped out and was injured, Im said.

Neither the driver not the injured man were burglars. Both were Airbnb guests at a home in the area, Im said.

NBC4's Jane Yamamoto contributed to this report.
