Although the final price won't be disclosed until the sale closes, the 8,753-square-foot home was originally listed for $8.5 million, but, as of a couple months ago, dropped to $6.5 million. The buyers' offer was reportedly more than $5 million. A large canvas painting, which may or may not be included in the offer, hangs in the hallway.

That's not a hedge. THIS is a hedge. Privacy is essential when conducting a $65 billion Ponzi scheme, for which Madoff is now serving a 150-year sentence.

Another area of the master bedroom -- Madoff's apartment in Manhattan along had three walk-in closets, including one where agents found more than 50 business suits and countless pairs of men's shoes.

We once caught a Ponzi scheme "this big!": the blueprint for Madoff's fishing boat, which will most likely go to auction with the rest of the home's contents.
