Feinstein, de Leon to Meet in Debate in U.S. Senate Race

The Feinstein-de Leon debate will be streamed live Wednesday Oct. 17

Sen. Dianne Feinstein and state Sen. Kevin de Leon, D-Los Angeles, will square off in a debate next Wednesday in their race for Feinstein's U.S. Senate seat.

The debate will take place at noon in San Francisco, and will be put on by the Public Policy Institute of California, Feinstein's office announced Wednesday.

The event will have a "traditional format" and will be streamed live online, according to Feinstein's office.

Under California's top-two primary rule, De Leon is on the fall ballot against Feinstein, and no Republican is on the ballot.

Feinstein has held the seat since 1992.

Although he lost the June 5 Democratic primary by more than 2 million votes to the four-term incumbent, de Leon hopes his bid for an upset will be boosted by his endorsement this summer from the California Democratic Party's executive committee.
