Man Killed, Another Hurt in La Puente Shooting

Sheriff's detectives were investigating the shooting death of a 31-year-old man in La Puente and the critical wounding of another person Saturday in an apparent drive-by shooting, according to the department.

The shooting took place at 10:50 p.m. Friday, in the 100 block of North Winton Avenue, Deputy Morgan Arteaga said.

The deceased man who suffered multiple wounds to his chest died at the scene, the department said. The victim was identified as David Juarez.

A second person was also critically wounded in the attack, according to the department. The 22-year-old man who was shot in the chest was transported to a hospital for treatment. The victim's current condition was unknown.

A motive for the shooting was also unknown.

A sheriff's lieutenant told reporters at the scene, the shooting appeared to be a drive-by attack and authorities were searching for a blue Nissan Altima.
