Man Found Shot to Death in Front Yard of Baldwin Park Home

An investigation was underway Tuesday after a 37-year-old father was found shot to death on the lawn of a Baldwin Park home one night earlier, officials said.

Authorities found the victim lying in the yard outside a home in the 3800 block of Cosbey Street at around 8:20 p.m. Monday, Baldwin Park police said.

He was identified by the coroner as Jacob Sosa, 37. Family members described him as a father of two daughters.

At least two men were seen leaving the site of the shooting, officials said. Police then issued a warrant at a nearby home in the 13200 block of Earl Avenue, but no one would come outside, officials said.

SWAT officers surrounded the home and detained several people for questioning after 5 a.m., but police have not made arrests in the shooting as of Tuesday afternoon.

One man told NBC4 he's lived next to the home involved in the shooting for 35 years.

"My whole life, I've never experienced anything like this," Reggie Stevens said. "It's really scary."

Neighbors said Sosa may have been visiting his parents, who they say rent an apartment in the back of the home on Cosbey Street, but police did not confirm whether that was true.
