USC Security Guard Robbed, Officers Surround Building

Police were waiting on a search warrant in order to enter the building.

A security officer at University of Southern California was robbed of his radio Monday night which led police to the thief’s location, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The police surrounded an apartment near campus after tracking the radio to that area.

Police were waiting on a search warrant in order to enter the building.

LAPD said no weapons were taken from the officer, and a weapon was not seen during the robbery. 

The robbery occurred at the intersection of West Adams Boulevard and Severance Street.  

USC sent out an alert to its students about 8:30 p.m. telling them there was no immediate threat, but to stay away from the area.
