A woman was killed Saturday in a suspected case of domestic violence in downtown Santa Ana, authorities said.
The crime was reported at 11:33 a.m. in a loft at 316 West Fourth Street, Unit 209, Santa Ana Police Corporal Anthony Bertagna said.
Officers were responding to a call about an altercation between a man and a woman, Bertagna said. When they got to the scene they found the apartment closed. A woman who appeared to be in her 30s was found inside with trauma to her body and bleeding and no sign of the man.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
There was no description of the man or his vehicle, the corporal said.
The man lived in the loft and was considered a "person of interest."
The woman's name was not released pending positive identification and notification of relatives, he said.
