While yoga, as a pursuit, study and concept, has many paths and ways of thinking, most yogic practitioners would likely say that being grounded, in both your physical place and your thoughts, is a key element to any successful session.
Which makes Wanderlust Festival such a wonderful and welcome anomaly.
It's the major yoga festival that takes to the road each year, landing for multi-day events in spots like Squaw Valley and for one-day celebrations in major cities such as our own.
And while the California Wanderlust is just a few weeks out, Wanderlust in the City alights upon Santa Monica Pier on Sunday, June 30.
Taking "essence of Wanderlust Festivals" and applying it to a city-type locale is at the heart of the one-dayer. Also at its heart? Free yoga. It'll be one of the largest classes you'll ever attend, as people and their colorful mats fill up the pier.
Tunes of a positive and dance-vibe-y nature will flow during the day, and vendors will also be on hand (in case you need a new block or strap or mat).
It's an afternoon affair -- 1 to 6 p.m. -- and it is sure to be on the toasty side, so outfit-up accordingly. You'll also want to register, even though no admission is charged.
