When the President of the United States passes through a town on a fundraising trip, he historically engages in a few things that the locals like to do. Maybe that's noshing on a popular club sandwich or bowling at a beloved set of lanes or trying the hot cupcake place.
Here in Los Angeles, though, we put a slight twist on this particular tradition, given that a lot of locals are aspiring performers.
This means our local must-dos include getting a spot on Conan O'Brien's show or a headlining gig at Largo at the Coronet or, apparently, a one-on-one sit-down with loved-all-around comedian Marc Maron on his buzzed-over podcast.
Mr. Maron says President Obama will pay him a visit on Friday, June 19, for a conversation that is sure to be lively, given that the name of the podcast is "WTF with Marc Maron."
The comedian famously runs the podcast out of a garage in Highland Park, so if what should be Friday-lite traffic on Figueroa Avenue gets a bit robust, it could be our president stopping by what is now one of the best-known garages in all of Southern California.

We're a car city, and to call a garage well-known is no stretch of the imagination. Total cred.
The interview will run about an hour or so -- rather longer than what is probably President Obama's most celebrated foray into comedy, his spring 2014 chitchat with actor Zach Galifianakis on "Between Two Ferns" to discuss the Affordable Care Act (though his recent appearance at the White House Correspondents' Dinner with Keegan-Michael Key as his "anger translator" is now legend, too).
As for getting to know Mr. Maron, if you don't already follow his talked-about, listened-to, I'd-love-to-be-a-guest-on-that podcast? His episode guide is an excellent place to start, and to find out where to listen. Past guests have included funny people like Nick Kroll, Jen Kirkman, and Bob Odenkirk.
The president's conversation with the comedian will be available on Monday, June 22, Maron says.
