Included in the Downtown News' development issue (released last Friday) are a number of interesting tidbits, including the news that Metropolis, developer IDS Real Estate's planned three phase condo/hotel project would break ground in first quarter 2009. What you're seeing above is Phase 1--that's a 33-story, 151-unit planned for James M. Wood Blvd and Francisco Street (architect is Arquitectonica). That tower would be done in 2012; the whole project wouldn't finish till 2020.
IDS Senior Vice President Patrick Spillane confirmed to Curbed that the development is still going forward, but clarified that the earliest the company would break ground would be first quarter 2009. But he also was completely honest and stated that the company would be looking at market conditions. So, the project could break ground next year. Who knows--after the events of the last few days, it's clear the financial world is imploding. Also: Spillane said all that litigious action related to the project has been resolved.
