An early-morning water main break flooded neighborhoods in the El Sereno area of Los Angeles on Friday.
The water main break was reported on Del Paso Avenue in the El Sereno area, located northeast of downtown Los Angeles, around 6 a.m. An LADWP spokesperson said the break involved a 6-inch pipe.
About 15 customers were without service.
Los Angeles' aging water system typically sees an increase in water main breaks when temperatures drop. Colder water from the Sierra Nevada range in Northern California, which provides water for millions of Californians, enters the system, causing pipes to contract, according to the LADWP.
On Thursday, at least four water main breaks were reported, including one in Mar Vista that send debris through the window of a sport utility vehicle.
