A man died in an attempted carjacking at a gas station in San Bernardino on Sunday, police said.
Police were searching for two attempted thieves believed to have been involved in the moments leading up to the man's death, according to officers with the San Bernardino Police Department said.
The carjacking was reported about 11:37 a.m. at an Arco gas station near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Sierra Way, police said.
While the man's cause of the death was under investigation, police said he may have driven his car in reverse and hit his head on a post while he was partially outside of the car.
Police set up a search area around the gas station, but hadn't found the two men suspected of trying to steal the four-door Honda.
A woman who was with the victim was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
