Man Fatally Shot at Motel in San Gabriel

A man was fatally shot and another was wounded Thursday night at a motel in San Gabriel, authorities said.

Deputies responded around 11:48 p.m. to reports about a shooting in the 1600 block of Del Mar Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies arrived and found a man in the motel lobby suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was transported to a hospital where he died, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

During the investigation, detectives learned that the shooting started after an altercation between members of two different gangs.

Deputies said four men were wanted in the shooting. One was seen driving away from the location in a white sedan and three others ran away.

Not far from the motel, deputies detained a man suffering from a cut or laceration, deputies said.

No arrests were made in connection with the shooting.
