Five students were taken to the hospital after they were struck by an SUV in Sylmar on Tuesday, firefighters said.
The crash took place about 2:15 p.m. in the 13000 block of Glenoaks Boulevard, near Lakeview Charter High School, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The SUV collided with a minivan and apparently "brushed" the pedestrians in a school parking lot connecting Lakeview Charter High and Triumph Charter Academy, the LAFD said.
All of the pedestrians suffered non-life-threatening injuries. One of the drivers, a 19-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.
The SUV driver said the gas pedal had become stuck.
Police said the incident appeared to be an accident.
