Search for Man Who Fatally Shot Woman in Bellflower Apartment

Detectives say the suspect is the victim's ex-boyfriend and father of her three children.

A woman was shot to death Monday in her Bellflower apartment and authorities are looking for her ex-boyfriend as the suspected shooter.

The shooting was reported about 1:35 p.m. in the 16000 block of Cornuta Avenue, according to Deputy Kimberly Alexander of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Deputies learned that the suspect entered his ex-girlfriend's apartment armed with a handgun and shot her at least once in the torso.

The woman died at the scene, Alexander said.

Neighbors identified the woman as a 31-year-old mother.

Detectives identified the suspect as Antowan Parker, a 27-year old black male.

He is also the victim's ex-boyfriend and father of her three children.

"He fired numerous times in front of her family," Lt. Joe Mendoza said.

The firearm used in the shooting has not been recovered, according to the sheriff's department.

Shahiem Beloved knows the family and says the couple had domestic problems and that the suspect appeared to be a good father.

Beloved says he chased after him following the shooting, but Parker was able to escape.

Parker is considered "armed and dangerous."
