Driver Killed When Three Big Rigs Crash on 10 Freeway in West Covina

The crash closed the eastbound 10 Freeway near the Citrus Street offramp

A trucker was killed early Thursday morning when at least three big rigs and a car crashed on a freeway east of Los Angeles.

The crash occurred at about 2:55 a.m. on the eastbound 10 Freeway near the Citrus Street offramp.

CHP officers were investigating an earlier crash when two big rigs slammed into the back of another semitrailer truck and a car. The chain-reaction crash killed a 52-year-old trucker from South Gate.

Another big rig driver was trapped in the cab. The injured driver was rescued and hospitalized, but details about injuries were not immediately available.

One of the big rig drivers died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The crash prompted the closure of all eastbound lanes of the San Bernardino Freeway just west of the Citrus Street exit. The closure is expected to extend until at least 7:30 a.m.
