San Bernardino resident Maddie Mastro knew she wanted to pursue snowboarding after she saw Australian snowboarder Torah Bright win gold in 2010.

1. She learned to ski at Mountain High when she was 2, then transitioned to snowboarding when she was 5.
2. Turns 18 on February 22.
3. Quit soccer just two years ago to completely focus on snowboarding.
