A brush fire quickly charred at least 30 acres Thursday near a golf course, threatening structures in Rancho Palos Verdes, a county fire official said.
The fire was reported just before 8 p.m. around Ocean Trails Drive and Palos Verdes Drive, near the Trump National Golf Club, said Captain Mike Brown of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
It was not immediately known whether any evacuations would be ordered.
The Rancho Palos Verdes fire isn't the only one crews are working to contain.
400 Acres Burned in Fire Near Idyllwild
A wildfire burning in forest land near Idyllwild scorched roughly 400 acres within a few hours Thursday and remained uncontained, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
The blaze, burning along State Route 74 in the San Bernardino National Forest, roughly 10 miles east of Hemet, jumped both sides of the highway, prompting the California Highway Patrol to shut it down at state Route 243.

Detours were in place.
The fire was reported at 5:13 p.m. and could be seen by residents in the Coachella Valley.
The fire is not far from the Idyllwild Arts Academy, but there was no word on whether the campus was threatened.
USFS spokeswoman Robin Prince said no injuries were reported. She said multiple agencies, including state and local, were responding to the fire, but there was no estimate on the number of personnel at the scene.
"We're still bringing in crews," said Prince.
She said the blaze was five percent contained by 8 p.m. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
Brush Fires Send Smoke Over LA Basin
San Gabriel Canyon in the Angeles National Forest was closed Thursday because of two brush fires burning in the area, and some mandatory evacuations were in effect, forest officials said.
The Morris Fire, which broke out late Tuesday afternoon near San Gabriel Canyon Road and the Morris Dam and Reservoir, scorched about 1,800 acres and was 45 percent contained, said Rachel Mailo of the U.S. Forest Service. Voluntary evacuations were in effect for residents living above Valley of the Moon.
The Station Fire, which broke out about 3:20 p.m. Wednesday near Angeles Crest Highway above La Canada Flintridge, was 300 acres and 10 percent contained. Camp High Hill and Clear Creek School were under mandatory evacuations. Read full story
