2 Dead, One Injured in Shooting at Liquor Store

Two men were killed and third was injured in a shooting outside a liquor store in an unincorporated area near South Los Angeles Thursday.

Deputies responded to a call at 5:48 p.m. about a shooting in the 10800 block of Western Avenue, according to Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff's Information Bureau. Deputies found three men shot in the parking lot, she said.

Detectives learned that a group of men were gathered in and around a truck, in the lot, when two males, parked a vehicle in an alley west of the location, exited the vehicle and opened fire on the men in the truck.

Two men, including the one seated in the driver's seat of the truck, were pronounced dead at the scene, Schrader said.

A third man was taken to a hospital but his condition was not immediately reported.

Both suspects got back in the vehicle that was parked in the alley and drove northbound through the alley to westbound 108th Street and out of view, she said.

There was no suspect vehicle description and the motive was under investigation, Schrader said.

The victims were not identified Thursday night, but many showed up at the scene of the crime, searching for answers from detectives and worried about sons, cousins and nephews that were unaccounted for.

"I'm mad. I'm pissed," said Keshawn, who says she's a cousin of one of the victims.

One woman, Mary, was in tears, insisting her nephew was a "good boy" and did not have any gang ties.

"He was good, hardworking, honest," she said. "He did whatever he could for anybody on this street."
