What's "the largest airport managed therapy dog program in the nation"? Glad you asked. It's the LAX PUP (Pets Unstressing Passengers) Program, right here in Southern California. Over 70 therapy dogs, and their volunteer humans, regularly visit Los Angeles International Airport, all to give harried, rushing-through travelers a reason to pause, pet some soft fur, snap a selfie, and smile before they go on their busy ways.
Smiles grew a little broader on Monday, Oct. 30 when over 30 costume-rocking canines from the program showed up at Terminals 4 and 5, as well as Tom Bradley International Terminal, to spread a little pre-Halloween joy. The hounds enjoyed a little outdoors parade and made some time to say hello to people catching flights and those who had recently landed.
