Bundle up, and slow down.
The California Highway Patrol was out in full force, warning drivers of icy conditions on the the 5 Freeway near the Grapevine north of LA.
Heavy snow is in the forecast, with additional snow accumulations of 8 to 14 inches for elevations above 7,000 feet through early Wednesday, with 2 to 4 inches possible at 4,000 feet.
CHP was already escorting drivers and performing traffic breaks to reduce speeds. On Wednesday, a big rig overturned in the northbound lanes of the freeway in Castaic and prompted the closure of the northbound side of the freeway for several hours overnight.
