Truth time: We can't all be Dolly Parton. There is only one, and she inspires her fans, each and every day, with her timeless songs, her joyful heart, her dedication to diversity, her commitment to keeping a chin up when times are tough and to celebrating when life is good, and her inimitable, one-of-a-kind approach to fabulous fashion.
And while we can only seek to aspire to Parton-perfect greatness, we can pick up a few pointers, on the attire end of things, when a sequin-splashed, sparkle-filled clothing-filled exhibit opens at the Grammy Museum at LA Live.
"Diamond in a Rhinestone World: The Costumes of Dolly Parton" will be on vibrant view at the DTLA music institution from Feb. 5 through March 17, 2019. It's "... a retrospective of Parton's career and most iconic fashion moments," and "... the first exhibit Parton has had in the United States outside of her Tennessee theme park Dollywood." Costumes that have appeared on and in "album covers, music videos, and live performances" will be featured.
Humming "I Will Always Love You" already? For sure: It's a big deal, for the many dedicated fans of Ms. Parton, as well as mavens of music fashion. But surely we all have a little devotion to Dolly. Scratch that: Make that "a lot."
